Help us create the Sail for others.

It’s so much fun!

At Sail Again our goal is to welcome crew members who want to help us create the very best selling and shopping experience possible for our community. The good news is, we don’t have to look very far to find them! Most are “volunteers” from past events. We are so grateful to all of you! We know that YOU are the most valuable resource we have when it comes to the success of running this awesome event. Guess what?! We don’t call you volunteers anymore! Our new hiring policy invites you to become a temporary seasonal employee with us instead of just a “volunteer.” You will still sign up the way you always have. You can likely even work the same amount of hours and shop at the same time (or even earlier). You’ll be compensated with a paycheck for the hours you work, not as a percentage of what you sell. Consignment Events across the country are moving to this model and team members are loving it because they are usually making more $ and shopping even earlier. Keep reading for details on how and why you’ll want to join the Sail Crew.

Sail Again offers three (3) Crew Member options: Bronze, Silver, and Gold!

Kristie: Valet Manager & PAT extraordinaire!

Funny Story: At our sister sale, Tar Heel Kids, we started referring to our team members as “The Wandas.” The name was born from the example paperwork that we offered with “Wanda Worker” at the top. Now, the name has sort of stuck over at Sail Again too! The Wandas are the lifeblood of our sale. Most have been a part of creating the event for the rest of us for years. Every season, one or two need to opt out for a bit, but 3 or 4 more step up. It’s lovely. So while officially, we have Bronze, Silver & Gold Sail Crew, what we really have is a lovely group of ladies that we call the Wandas.

Funnier story that’s too long to go into here: some of our more senior Wandas are known as Pats or Plaids.

Story that we sincerely hope is true: There are no Karens on our team.

In order to be compensated and receive credit for ANY Shift, ALL Crew Members MUST fill out the new hire paperwork and sign in at the BEGINNING of each shift. This includes those who are working multiple shifts per day. Each shift MUST be signed off on. Verbal documentation CANNOT be accepted. Sail Again LOVES our crew, and we want to ensure that you receive credit for your hours. Thank you for your help!

 CREW Member POLICY:

Please know how much we appreciate your time and effort each and every season! We understand that things come up, a sick child or other event may prevent you from completing your shift; however, we plan our worker schedules based on the needs of the sale. If you have registered for a shift and do not fulfill your shift, it hurts the production of the sale from set-up to break down and pick up.

This is NOT a volunteer position. We are hiring you to work here and we need your help to run the event for the community. Please note these policies and requirements before you sign up:

  • You MUST first select a “1 minute interest shift” in our system.

  • After being notified that you are eligible for hire, you may select 3-10 shifts to work during the event. (working fewer than 3 shifts as a “trainee” must be approved ahead of time by our hiring manager) You MAY NOT sign up for more than 10 shifts (40 hours!) without prior approval.

  • Every temporary seasonal employee will fill out the hiring packet (I-9, w4, non-compete & info sheet) prior to their first hour of work. You will be given the opportunity to fill this out in advance, If you did not fill this out online & submit via email to the hiring manager in advance, then you MUST plan to arrive 30 minutes early to your first shift in order to complete this.

  • Sign in and Sign out is required for every shift.

  • 24 Hour Notice of Shift Cancellation is required

  • Crew Member MUST remove themselves from the shift

  • Crew Member shifts will LOCK at 8PM the night before set up.

  • If you are a REGISTERED consignor and scheduled to work as a crew member and DO NOT show up for your shift OR give 24 hour notice, you will forfeit all employee perks, you will have a percentage of your sales reduced from 65% of consignment to 50% and you will neither be paid nor able to shop during presale shopping. If you have already availed yourself of these perks, they will be forfeited for next season.

If you are considering signing up to be a crew member at our sale, or if you are already signed up, here are a few tips and suggestions that you might find helpful.

  • Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. You will be standing for a majority of your work shift and we want you to be comfortable!

  • The tasks assigned to workers during their shift are dependent on the needs of a shift. Sail Again Children’s Consignment will do our very best to give complete and detailed instructions to workers so that they will be comfortable with the tasks assigned to them.

    • Drop off day workers usually help us inspect and place clothing items on the sales floor as they come in.

    • Saturday afternoon & evening is dedicated to presort and pick up.

    • Sunday is all about breakdown/organization of the sale.

  • Workers must sign-in with Leslie, our hiring manager, as they arrive for their work shift.

  • After crew members are signed in, they should get an apron or T-shirt and a name tag to wear during their shift. These items are required & help shoppers and others know who is a Sail Again Crew Member.

  • Our goal is to make your work experience enjoyable and pleasant. We try to have fun while we are working the sale. We look forward to having you join us!

  • NOTE: Workers should NOT bring their young children with them to work. Rare exceptions have been made for nursing infants, but the appeal must be made and approved before signing up to work.

Sail Again has lots of ways to help, we’ll happily find one that works for you! .
